The following information explains our policy regarding the personal information we collect about you.
1 – STATEMENT OF INTENT
Certain sections of the website request that you supply your personal information (i.e. your e-mail address, name, contact details) so that you may utilise the services on our site and by entering these details you enable us to provide you with the services you select (such as sending us an order for goods).
Whenever you supply this information, PC Development Ltd. will treat the information in accordance with this policy and will act in accordance with current Internet best practice.
2 – INFORMATION STORED REGARDING SITE VISITORS
During the course of any visit to this website, the web pages you see, together with something called a cookie, are sent to your computer (see “Cookies Used On The PC Development Site” in point 3 below for more on this). The majority of web sites on the Internet (if not all) do this, as cookies allow the website publisher to do useful things like find out whether the computer / its user has visited the site before. This is done on a repeat visit by checking to see if a cookie has been left there on a previous visit.
Any information that is supplied through cookies can help us to provide you with a better service. For example, the PC Development site utilises cookies to maintain the shopping cart system we provide – items you select to purchase from our online catalogue are stored in cookies. The cookies remain on your computer until either your order is submitted to us, or a period of 7 days passes (by setting the expiry period of 7 days, you may return to our site within that period to complete your unprocessed order). The following section fully explains how this site utilises cookies.
3 – COOKIES USED ON THE PC DEVELOPMENT WEBSITE
When you use the PC Development website shopping cart system, your computer will automatically be issued with a cookie. Cookies are text files that identify your computer to our web server. Cookies themselves do not identify the individual user (you), just the computer used.
Cookies themselves only record the products you have selected to buy and are only valid for a specific period of time (in the case of our shopping cart, the period is 7 days). Users have the opportunity to set their computers to accept all cookies, to notify them when a cookie is issued, or not to receive cookies at any time. The last of these, of course, means that certain personalised services cannot then be provided to that user.
Cookies are only utilised by our site in the following circumstances:
- When you add, amend or remove products to and from our Shopping Cart facility
- You sign in, or out using the Account Login facility
- If you arrive at this site via a third party (i.e. affiliate) site, in which case we note the site you originated from (note that nothing personally identifiable is stored along with this, other than the pure lead source)
Cookies are not used, or set by the PC Development site without good reason. Each of the cookies listed below are critical to enabling site functionality. You can still browse our site anonymously, until such time as you request one of the previously mentioned facilities.
A summary table follows explaining about each cookie this site uses..
|PCDShoppingCart||Manages shopping basket item selections.|
|PCDLogin||Linked to the user account login (where a user account login is in use).|
|LeadSrc||Provides us with the source (i.e. an affiliate) site that you came through to arrive at our site. This allows us to track how site visitors arrived at our site (note that no personally identifiable details are ever stored, only the lead source).|
4 – STORAGE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
The PC Development website typically requests information in the way of forms held within the pages on this site. The data we collect, such as personal / contact information, is collected by us in a fair manner – that is we explain how we will use that data at the point of collecting it.
Data collected by us will never be passed on to third parties, or used without your consent. The only exception to this is when we are legally obliged to provide information.
5 – POSTING OF OFFENSIVE OR INAPPROPRIATE INFORMATION
If you post or send offensive or inappropriate information anywhere on the PC Development Ltd. website, or otherwise engage in any disruptive behaviour on the site, where we consider such behaviour to be serious and / or repeated, PC Development can use whatever information is available to it about you to stop such behaviour. This may include informing relevant third parties such as your employer, or e-mail service provider about the content and your behaviour.
6 – INFORMATION RETENTION
We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as you use the service you have requested, and remove it in the event that the purpose has been met. In addition, we will ensure that all personal information supplied is held securely.
7 – HANDLING OF SENSITIVE DATA TRANSMITTED TO AND FROM THIS SITE
Certain sections of the website require that you enter sensitive information (such as credit card details when purchasing online with us) and wherever this takes place, we have taken all steps to ensure that the data is handled securely using https (SSL/TLS) secure connections. The https secure connections use 128-bit high encryption to ensure all transactions are conducted securely between your web browser and our system. Look for the padlock in the bottom-right corner of your browser when accessing secure pages, or click on the site seal in the bottom-right of most of our pages – this will provide confirmation of our identity by a third party.
8 – WE DO NOT STORE CREDIT CARD DETAILS NOR DO WE SHARE CUSTOMER DETAILS WITH ANY 3RD PARTIES
